Tranny Company???

I read an article not too long ago in GM High Tech about a company that makes a six speed 700R4, its pricey, around 3K. They are pretty stout, applications for up to 1000HP. I for the life of me can't remember the name of company...

Re: Tranny Company???

WOW...not sure if 5G's is worth it. I do need a tranny and have no desire to do a T56 swap. Although it would be fairly easy I think considering my car is completely stripped to the bone...LITERALLY!! Dropping a LSX in it and am open for suggestions. Gonna cost around $10K for the motor, not sure I want to spend another five for the tranny considering I'm installing a brand new 9" rear end too.

Re: Tranny Company???

Honestly contact Jake's Performance Transmissions and have him build you a 4L80E. He has a great rep and allot of knowledge. He is a sponsor on LS1tech.

Just don't tease him any, he threw a hissy fit a few back on nastyz28 when he couldn't get his way so he removed all his tech articles and post to punish the whole board. [going as far as demanding links to the articles on other sites be removed form nasty any time posted on the site or " ill sue". As many tried to keep the info on the site.
[And that the only thing of his id use, I have copies of all his build tips.]

Long as you can deal with that possible tempter tantrum where he declares he is taking all his toying and going home, you can use him.

Id ask for a lower first gear though
[1st should start with 3.xx always, never 2.xx]

Never visited Nastyz28. I guess what I have seen on ls1tech is nothing but positive. He is vary smart when it comes to 4l80e. He has inivated alot of parts for them. I think he actully sells his valve bodies to TCI for them to rebox and call there own.

Otherwise Rossler transmissions is quite good also. I will be running there trans brake in my transmission.

And no one really had anything bad to say about his work, cept his public hissy fit. Give him 20 years and he will be a wise old sage.

Re: Tranny Company???

Thanks for all the tips. His prices are definitely more in my range, but I do not have a problem paying for quality stuff either. I just want something that I can beat the hell out of whenever I want but still hop on the interstate for a road trip and get decent gas mileage.

I'm still learning about the "LS" world and other tranny's besides the ol' 700R4. I have no complaints though, ran a stock 700R4 in my Z with redline fluid on the track countless times with no issues...not to mention stupid liquid courage induced burnouts in my drive way with my buddies who had stangs and other thirdgen bowties. Now it's in a buddies jeep turning 40 inch tires and still shifting fine.

I will check out the other sites too. Once again, thanks for all the inputs.
