Changing 2.73 to 3.42 gears, '88 Iroc
Changing 2.73 to 3.42 gears, '88 Iroc
How difficult is it to change from the stock 2.73 rear to 3.42 gears using a Summit kit? I have fairly good skills and years of experience but have never changed a rear. Has anyone here done it?

The Summit kit is not very good. It's just a reboxed Ratech kit. There are much better kits availble. The better the kit the easier the installation. You will need the thick 3.42 gears to fit your 2 series differential. You will need to know how to set the pinion detph, bearing preload and backlash. You will also need to know how to read the contact pattern so that you will know what adjsutments need to be made to the pinion depth and backlash.
