I swaped my TPI intake for a carb, and a week later bought a new 700r4 with 1800rpm converter. The car drives fine normally, but it will not come out of 3rd at high speed. 125mph @ 6000rpm in 3rd.... Please help

 

you will need the 3-4 upshift valve,did it go full throttle before the change.

 

well it worked in the old tranny, but then i put this carb on and the new tranny in, and it seems to only work when im going slow. im lost

 

Mine does the same thing at open throttle, but if i let of the gas a little it will shift.

@JMD i was wondering if a whole valve body swap would fix the problem? I've always wanted a manual valve body.

@ Pro BuiltAutomatics, i got your email but was there only 1 step? thats all it showed, the picture and Step 1.

 

This is the Throttle Valve bushing that you will be doing the modification on. You will need to remove the two bolts that hold the bell crank to the valve body, then pull the pin out that centers the bell crank, now pull the TV plunger and bushing out together. It will have a spring and if it has the TransGo Shift kit it will also have a piece of aluminum in the middle of the spring and maybe a aluminum shim also. Modify the bushing with the Allen screws, then make sure that the plunger moves freely in the plunger bushing and that the Allen screws have been ground down so as not to interfere with the bore in the valve body upon re-installation or the TV plunger. Make sure that the TV plunger does not have any high spots on the grooved areas where it rides in the TV plunger bushing. If there is any high spots, use a file only to remove any high spots. No sandpaper here. Install everything in reverse order. Tighten the valve body bolts to 85-95 inch pounds. Re-adjust the TV cable as it will change with the removal and re-installation. Do this with the pan off so to make sure that the TV plunger is completely depressed at WOT.
