t 5 install problem..i think

okay so i installed my t5 today. and after jiggling it around for a while we got the input shaft through the pressure plate and hopefully the clutch. within the final inch of clearence between the bellhousing and engine should there be any resistance with reguards to sliding the input shaft into the new pilot bearing? also how far should the pilot bearing be installed? as far as it can go?

i got the bushing as far as being flush with the sleeve it went into but should it have gone in further? just some thoughts. first time doing anything with my transmission. it is a five speed swap so i dont have a pilot bearing to compare to.
any thoughts of why this is resisting the last quarter inch of the way? its slowly but surely going. i just dont want to break anything

Re: t 5 install problem..i think

Should look about like this.

To get it in that last little bit, start all 4 bolts BY FINGER ONLY; have somebody get in and push the clutch; and while they're holding the clutch down, wiggle the trans in, tightening the bolts as it becomes possible BY FINGER ONLY until the trans is seated against the BH.
