b&m 700r4 question

I am rebuilding a 87 camaro, I plan on getting a new 350 which will make about 330 hp and 380 ft lbs. And i was looking at getting the b&m 700r4 because i want the overdrive. My question is information on the 700r4 says it has a recalibrated valve body and i was wondering does it mean it works the same as the transkit shift kit or is it just a modified valve body, because before hand i was just going to put the shiftkit in my 700r4 where it works as a manual through 1-3rd gear but if your in overdrive it drives like a automatic. But my tranny also would need a rebuild and if a brand new 700r4 works the same then id rather just buy the b&m, so has anyone used the b&m 700r4? or in general does the recalibrated valve body mean what i think it means?
