im looking at buying this for 1500. but he says the transmission will not shift into gear when running. it is a 350 small block with a 5 speed transmission. Engine is replacement with carburator. It will go into gear when off. He says he has swapped two transmissions in and doesnt work but he replaced almost everything with the clutch and still nothing. any thoughts?

this is what he described it as. it also has no AC. is it worth it?


this is a 1988 firebird with a strong 350 motor w/ 480 lift cam,headmen headers,mallory high vollume fuel pump,msd blaster coil,msd didgital module,holly street dominator 4brl intake, w/4brl 650 holly carburator 3'' exuast w/ flowmaster. new clutch master,new slave cylinder new clutch kit,new clutch fork,through out bearing new pilot bushing. nice white and black car. needs trans,front rotors,carpet

 

make sure all air is out of clutch hydraulics. Ive had to take off the cap, and slowly retract the slave back in its bore to force air back to the reservoir when all else fails. Is this guy installing the clutches right?

 

Prolly not the hydraulics, though it's possible; FAR more likely, this.

 

He thougt it was an easy fix that has him stumped. if thats true this would make a good buy. they engine is nice and the body is straight no rust with nice interior.
i wouldnt mind putting 1000 into it to get the bugs kinked out. my budget is 2500 for a car like this
