Re: 700r4 and engine dead

Will the motor turn over at all? If not, the TQ and flexplate may have blown up together preventing the crank from turning.

Re: 700r4 and engine dead

Start with verifying the plugs are getting spark and fuel pressure is good at the valve on the injector rail. It's highly unlikely a failure at the rear of the trans. will directly cause a no-start condition of the engine.

Sorry to hear about the trans. Was there any evidence of an object hitting the trans? Did the separate tailhousing part of the trans. crack or the "main" case of the trans.? The torque arm part of the trans takes somewhat of a beating from the suspension and it's not uncommon for them to crack thusly.

I'd also recommend starting a thread in the TPI forum for assistance regarding the no-start.

Re: 700r4 and engine dead

Apologies for the delay in reply but I have been under the car trying to work out what happened and after some investigation in goes a little like this, The yoke on the front of the diff sheared the prop then went through the floor pan of the car and rather than tare the floor pan apart it smashed the back of the box. Now when it went through the floor it appears to have taken out the wiring for the fuel pump hence the none start. It's all fun and games just need to source the parts and get on with it. Oh yeah got to try and find the money ha ha. It's a real bummer but such is life. Will be on here a lot thats for sure.

PS: motor turns over fine.

Re: 700r4 and engine dead

so did the pinion snout break off and release the whole
yoke, ujoint and driveshaft,or did the driveshaft twist off
from the rear yoke? if the former, probably was caused
by a problem in the diff causing it to lock and twist off
the pinon snout...
if the driveshaft twisted loose from the yoke, probably
a faulty weld or a damaged driveshaft was the cause...
possibly only the tailhousing of the tranny was
broken and the rest might be good.

Re: 700r4 and engine dead

Excuse my terms, the yoke on the diff sheared where it holds the uj. Looks like the whole box is screwed because both the tail and main housing are cracked. Waiting on my parts guy before i get back under there, he is more clued up than i.

Re: 700r4 and engine dead

Well did some further investigation, Appears only the tail housing is FUBAR rather than the box but only time will tell. Drive shaft looks like a banana. Looks like the drive shaft twisted off from the rear yoke.. Have some pics but unable to upload at the moment.
