T-5 Swap: Strange engagement issue: help
T-5 Swap: Strange engagement issue: help
my daily driver blew up: I go to use my camaro with only 2k on the trans parts and I suddenly loose the clutch. It still Works but barely. I used a T5WC trans with 77k on it from a 92 gta. New flywheel, ram clutch, power slave and mcleods adjustable Master slave.
The clutch used to engage in about 3 inches(pedal), super tight super fast, hard pedal. Now I got a mushy pedal-it does go into gear but the clutch has to be pushed hard to the floor. the pedal is adjusted all the way out, so the actual pedal is moving over a foot: I looked under the car while someone pushed the pedal down, it is moving over an inch. Ram clutches said it only take .450 to disengage it.
I already bled the line many times its not air.
I called Summit, Ram Clutches, Mcloeds, No one can seem to give me a straight answer. I cant see how all of a sudden it barely works, it did work fine for 6 months.
I have two ideas: Ram Clutches said it could be the pressure plate, but the trans has to come apart to even test it- damn! id like to avoid that
Do pressure plates usally go bad? even after only 2k?
Summit said to use a hydrolic throwout bearing at 400.00 egh!
(still entire trans has to come apart_) this might not fix it
orrrrr my friend has an eagle talon that he said needed a longer piston on the power slave. And ordered an aftermarket one, but I cant seem to find one for a camaro.
Has anyone else had this problem?....I havent seen it on any forums
or maybe someone can tell me what is most likely the problem-
-if i cant find a easy fix i may scrap the entire car

sounds to me like the pressure plate is not disengaging from the flywheel all the way......i had that heppen on a zoom clutch kit before..........changed the clutch out and it was fine.....
