bad tv cable?

just put my old trans back in the car as the "newused" one was always at 2000 rpm at any speed and had no *****, my old trans shifted perfect and had lock up working. now i put it back in and adjusted the cable and it shifts like crap. trans was a 12,000 mile rebuilt. i drove it the 12,000 miles. it was a tbi car. now it is tpi and i did use a tpi cable. it came with this drivetrain i bought to convert. that trans shifted excessively hard but had no lock up and like said above was always at 2000 rpm regardless of speed. can the cable be shot out of the blue? i can barely feel the difference in gear shifts till lock up occurs. wtf? or are their differences in the tbi/ tpi transmissions? hope someone has an idea cause i have to go to work tomorrow and i really don't wanna roast another transmission. the wife will kill me!

Re: bad tv cable?

Adjusted?
Or adjusted, drove it to test, and adjusted it until it was right?

You could pull the pan to adjust it too.

Re: bad tv cable?

adjusted as soon as done with swap, then drove up and down the block, re adjusted, then drove home 2 miles. it was ehhhh not the best. just didn't feel like it did b4. really kinda bummed. was going 40 mph at 1100 rpm. shifted into 4th at 35mph at part throttle. it always shifted alittle early even with tbi on top but it always hit the gears correctly. ehh. ill check again tomoro morning.

Re: bad tv cable?

sounds like you need to adjust it again. I had to fine tune mine for days to get it where I wanted it! haha.
