How do I find out...
I have an 89 Iroc it's got a 350 but that's all I know about it. How do I find out what tranny and gears it's got?

Re: How do I find out...
there is two choices for trannys does it have 2 or 3 pedals on the floor, 2 its a 700r4. 3 its a t5. engine will be a TPI unless its been changed. gears will be able to tell unless theve been changed once you figure out your tranny

Re: How do I find out...
on second thought, you could only get a 350 with an automatic, so its a 700r4 look at the RPO code to find out the rear end ratio

Re: How do I find out...
If you have an 89 equipped with OE rear discs (11.7" rotors and single piston alum PBR calipers), you should have a 9-bolt. The following should be an interesting read:

Though the gear ratio is a bit different, 10-bolt info should be somewhat helpful:

Jerk the diff cover. The numbers are stamped on the ring and pinion. For example: 41 (ring gear) divided by 15 (pinion) = 2.73.

Re: How do I find out...
Two gear ratios for the 9-bolt with a 350 in 1989. 2:77 standard or 3:27 option, and in most cases it is the 2:77 ratio. So don't get your hopes up a about it being the 3:27, only 1426 Iroc 350's came with this option out of 12000 plus 350 Iroc's in 1989.
