shift kit question

I have read alot opinions about the different shift kits. I have used B&M in the past. When I look at the parts for a Transgo jr. it is completely different than the B&M. Why? I am confused at how to order what I what. It sounds good about the soft shift at lower rpm's and shifts harder under accelaration, but what do I look for in advertisements? Any help?

Re: shift kit question

I have the B&M kit - no problems with it here.

But most folks prefer the Transgo kit. Transgo kit a bit more involved (goes about it in a different way - supposedly a better way).

Re: shift kit question

install the corvette servo, sonnax billet 4th servo ,and a sonnax .500 boost valve and the sonnax elevated pressure regulator spring.

takes out all the slop and makes it shift mean

shift kits are a waste

the b&m kit for the 700r4 sucks

Re: shift kit question

I have looked on ebay and found a corvette servo. could I install this and a b&m shift improver kit. I would love to get a transgo, but I hate to sink $100+ in a kit right now. It is not a race car just something to play with.

Re: shift kit question

I offer the modifed Heavy Duty TransGo Shift kit and the modified Performance TransGo Shift kit. They offer smooth part throttle shifts and with the shifts getting quicker and somewhat firmer at higher throttle openings. This will give you the best chance for transmission longevity. I have many hundreds if not a thousand or more of these Shift kits out there doing very well. The Sonnax approach is ok, (definitely better then the B&M) but I have tailored my kits to a "high degree" much more than what Sonnax has done or TransGo has done. B&M valve body kits are a waste fo time as they accomplish nothing but harsh shifts in most cases, and do not address the shortcomings or the failings of the transmission. I worked with Sonnax many years ago with the 2nd accumulators that go in the valve body, ("M" - "L" - "K") but at the same time TransGo was changing their Shift kit approach and the cost was much cheaper to get the same results with their Shift kit without the expense of buying the Sonnax accumlator setup and the necessary accumulator springs for the 1-2 accumulator that bolts to the valve body. The reason I modify the TransGo Shift kits is to match what each person has and how he drives. TransGo and Sonnax don't have the time or the inclination to tailor the kits top each combination. One day I might take the time to work with the Sonnax approach and tailor it too, but I need time which is something that I don't have.
