newly rebuilt 700r4 help

I just rebuilt my 700r4 out of a 90 Firebird, but I'm having problems with it. 1st I cant catch 4th gear. I've jacked it up and run it over 100 and cant force the shift, I've lowered the shift points to 1200 - 1500 and driven it for a week hoping that time would help - it didnt do anything. at first it was shifting really hard (which is what I wanted) but now its shifting really weak, even with a 3rd stage shift kit. its sitting at the school on a lift. I pulled the pan and the fluid looks good. I did the pressure tests and get 70psi at idle to 150 at wot. the cable was adjusted properly. now Im at a loss any help would be welcome

Re: newly rebuilt 700r4 help

No 4th can sometimes be an issue with the wiper seal on the 4th piston. The long tab goes out.
Or it can sometimes be an issue with the washer on the servo assembly. Or the incorrect band apply pin, if you changed that while doing a billet or 'vette servo. Any / all of those requires popping the cap on the passenger side of the trans.
If it isn't either of those, it might be a sticking valve or a burr in the valve body.
I'm having the same problem in my work truck. It used to have OD, then I did some work, now it doesn't. But second still works great. So I've been researching this, and I'll soon be trying what I've posted here.
