Engine: 305 TBI
Transmission: 5 Speed Manual Transmission
Axle/Gears: Stock
Would these gears fit my 88 Firebird?
I have an 88 Trans Am with 5 speed 305 tbi and I want to put in some 4.10 gears. Right now it has the 3.08 and im wondering if these will fit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motiv...2#ht_500wt_956

Doesn't look like it...
You'll need the "special" thick gears because you have a 2 series carrier, and since he doesn't say A WORD about that feature, you can bet your bippy they don't have it.

If you haven't verified that you have a 10-bolt, I'd take a peek. If you have the latter, the info below may be helpful:

Also, if you haven't, you might do some research. A 305 and 4.10's wouldn't appear to be a successful match.

Yes I have 10 bolt. And why are 4.10s not a success on 305s? What gears do you recommend?

3.42's are good but 4.10 will be to much gear for that 305

I know your engine had lil bit more power but i have a 305 carb with 700r and on the freeway im glad i didnt go past 3.42 gears. 4.10's sound cooler but 3.42s are plent low

3.73s in my daughters 305TBI/T5 90RS & it totally rocks. Been in there for over 10 years now & we have no regret ever doing it. I did it when the car was her moms.
