Sounds like a shotgun in the axle?
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but -
After a slew of problems in the front of the '92 Z', I've discovered a possible one in the rear.
When I'm sitting at a stop light in Drive with the brakes fully applied, a wicked cracking noise surfaces from the rear (MIGHT be the Rear Right, can't really tell exactly). It almost sounds like when your brakes are shot and the wheels try to slip off of them (that grinding kind of noise...?). It only happens when I'm in Drive with the brake fully applied. Besides the mushed brake lines, stopping is normal, driving is normal.
I was thinking that this may be an exhaust rattle... but damn, what a rattle it'd be if this was the case!
I've searched through these forums and haven't found anything similar to my problem. Everyone else has the problems when they're MOVING, not when they're STOPPED!
I just got this car about a month ago and was told that it has a new Posi rear end.
OH - The engine still runs pretty rough -- causes the car to shake a bit...okay, a lot. I have noticed that the rear noise is worse when the engine goes into "vibration mode"...
Anyone have any ideas?
