Anyone happen to know where I can find a t56 swap setup in / near SC?
Replacing the engine in my camaro, new engine is coming in next Tuesday. I was going to wait and replace the transmission after I kill the T5 that I have right now, but after thinking on it I'm making a somewhat last minute decision to try and find a t56 and go ahead and swap it at the same time.
I just know the new engine is going to eat the T5 fast if I get down on it hard, so may as well go ahead and swap it if I can find one.
I'm pretty sure hawks third gen has one, but their price is a little ridiculous at $2200 dollars. Especially considering that I'll probably end up getting new cylinders and a new clutch. That price might be reasonable if it at least had new cylinders and a new clutch, but even then it's still pushing it. I know I've seen the complete kits for 1200 before.
Just figured I'd post here in case anyone happens to know of something, I'm going to check the salvage yards and all in the area tomorrow. Possibly even ride by a few cheap car lots, maybe I can find a ragged out 4th gen for cheap at a car lot with a 6 speed in it lol. As long as it works good for now I can get it rebuilt later.

Don't be naive, a T56 swap will be expensive. In the $2K range. Here's a list:

Hawks wants 2200 for all used stuff (used clutch, used flywheel, used hydraulics). Basically what they are selling for 2200 you can find on ebay and these forums for 1200ish.
That isn't me being naive, that is Hawks being greedy.
By the time you finish the swap using the hawks 2200 package, you are going to have 3k invested in it probably.

Correct, a 1 piece rms engine will keep some costs down and a bare-bones swap won't be as bad. The trans is still gonna cost ya. Keep an eye out in junkyards.....
