wont shift into park. Any ideas
Ok I replaced my shifter cable 5 months ago and shifted fine. The other day it stopped going into park It is like the cable is too short, shrunk or too weak to push the linkage at trans. It is adjusted as far as it will go. All the other gears are perfect. It kind of feels like the linkage at the trans is too stiff or cable too weak. When I shift the car from underneath the gear selector locks in park like it and moved the gear selector exactly where it should. Is it possible the linkage at the trans is worn out, is it replacable without rebuilding the trans?

It sounds like the link to tranny isn't bolted right. That happened to me when I replace my tranny seal. Just had to adjust it

you're going to have to go under the car and verify that it goes into park when you move the lever from underneath. If it does, then it's a simple mechanical problem you face and once you are under there, it will be obvious to you; no worries.

well there you go
now it's time for you to do the rest.
you are there
your eyes can see
have confidence
it's probably a clip, or tie or nut that's too tight (i've seen all attaching the cable)
you can do it
you at least have good news that it shifts and know it's just an adjustment underneath

Well this was fun figuring this out. Layed under my car telling my 4 year old daughter to try to put my car in park. So trans linkage is fine, the plastic on the shift cable broke thank god for warrantee's.
