top gear rpm at 60 mph with this combo...

Hey guys, I was wondering at what speed my engine would be turning at 60 mph in 5th gear with a T5 tranny with a .73 overdrive gear with a 3.42 rear end. Would that combo still result in a car that will get reasonable mileage on the highway? That's what I'm thinking of using to replace the 700r4/2.73s my car has now.

Look up the formula and DIY instead of asking some one else for the answer. A very simple math solution.

Ended up doing this a long time ago when I wasn't sure that I either had or could get the right speedo gear... For a T-5 having a .76 5th gear, I run around 2036 RPM@60. Should be around 1950-2000 for you.

3.73 / .63 fifth works well.
It might be worth it to try changing 5th when you change the rear.

I suppose, I have the stock 16" crosslace rims with stock size tires. Can't remember the exact size but thank you so much for that chart! Very helpful. And thanks to everyone else who posted! This should give me a solid idea of what to expect and so far I like what I see. That little calculator you posted up is very handy too.
