Re: T5 flywheel question

91 is one piece, 85 is 2 pc. you need a 1pc flywheel, 153 tooth. Maybe a new clutch and pressure plate to go with it, might as well since its apart.

This is all assuming the 91 has the stock engine. FWIW, a "trans am" never had a 350. the 350 was only available in the gta. Are you sure its not a 305?

you dont have to get a new clutch, but it would be foolish not to. Nothing like putting the car back together and having the clutch take a dump a month later....

its a pressure plate btw, a flex plate is for a auto trans

and the trans am NEVER had a 350, not a question. That info sheet is a bit misleading because the gta is a "trans am gta".

If the car is a 91 trans am, and has the stock engine, its NOT a 350. the 8th digit of the vin will be a "F" if its a TPI305 and a "8" if its a TPI350. If it has a 350, and the 8th digit is a 8, its a gta not a trans am

i did lie though, you can get the 350 in a formy as well as the gta

Re: T5 flywheel question

you would need a stock flywheel for a 91 trans am with a 305 v8 and 5 speed manual trans. Have them look up that and it will be the right one. Could be any really from around 87 to 92.

check the vin anyway, the 305 and the 350 look identical, and many people think that just because its a chevy v8, its automatically a 350.

Re: T5 flywheel question

If you machine the pressure plate so it and the flywheel are fresh surfaces, you can reuse the clutch.

Re: T5 flywheel question

You could get a 350 in a Formula, Trans Am and GTA ..

If you machine the flywheel make sure you dont need a shim.
