i have a 89 trans am 305tpi auto with what i believe are 2.73 gears. i am looking for something a little better, not going to race, i have a S/S 74 trans am for that, just more pep on the street. what should i look for, 3.08, 3.24, 3.42's?
would it be better to find a complete rear end and change it out? if i did thinking about a disc brake from a Z or GTA. if i did this what all would i have to get besides the rear end?
i had a GTA 305 5 speed years ago, 3.45's that got over 24mph if i didn't floor it, this one with moon gears only gets about 17 best, 13 worst.
i am also going to go thru the tune up to see what that does.thanks for your help.
