9 bolt maximum torque?
9 bolt maximum torque?
Hi guys,
does anybody know how much torque 9 bolt BW differential (from Pontiac Trans AM 5.7 GTA 1988) can handle?
I have one Viper V10 engine and want to put it in GTA, so I need to know is it's 630Nm safe for 9 bolt diff

If you drive lightly and use factory tires it might last for a while. At minimum get a strong rear diff cover.

Re: 9 bolt maximum torque?
I talked to a guy that said they were using a 9 bolt in a 700HP car. I just don't know what all they had to do to the rearend to make it withstand that kind of power. I put a TA Performance support cover on mine along with the bearing cap studs.

There is an article on this thread on page 4 that says they can be modified to be good up to 850HP using 31 spline axels and a few other things. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...w-about-4.html
