pump for refilling trans fluid in car?
Anyone know of a good way to refill the trans fluid in a T56 without removing the tranny from the car and without spilling fluid everywhere? My car is a 92z with an LT1 and T56.
I bought a cheapo hand pump and bottle and it worked for about a whole 3 seconds until this thing started leaking all over the place.
any suggestions/photos/links would be greatly appreciated.
The right thing for me to do is take out my transmission and fix the small leak i have but i dont know if i can even take this thing out myself in my garage with no lift. been building this entire car on my back with the car on jack stands and have had enough... If anyone has any suggestions for removing the trans in your home garage i'd like to hear that as well. I just dont see how you reach the top bolts and if your lucky to get that then how to you reinstall them and torque them to the right amount?
Thanks

Go to the boat store and get one for putting fluid into outdrives.
To pull a T-56, use 2 floor jacks, positioned from the front and the rear, NOT from the sides. Piece o cake.
As far as the bolts, there's nothing particularly difficult about them. You "torque them to the right amount" by rotating them clockwise. Not much mystery there.

Thanks Sofa, but i was referring more to what tool fits well into the tight space to allow you to unbolt these bolts needed to remove the trans?

Remove the trans from the bellhousing first. Those bolts are much easier to reach. If you need to remove the bellhousing bolts, use a really long extension or two with a swivel on the end. Or remove them from the top with a long wrench.

Although, it's easier if you break them loose with a long one, then finish the job with a short one since it's easier to maneuver around in there.

I use gravity to fill my t5, all you need is some rubber hose and a funnel, pop the fill plug, feed the tube in and bring the hose up to about the door, pop in the funnel and then start pouring, gravity takes care of the rest and feeds it in, best with 2 people though someones gotta watch and be sure youre not over flowing fixing the leak might be your best bet though lol

Don't forget about the possibility of putting it in through the gear shifter. No mess. The center console isn't the most fun thing to remove however.
The upper two bolts to remove it are the hardest. A must have is a 2ft extension linked up with a 8 in or so. At the tranny have a swivel attachment with some duct tape around it to keep it from flopping around to much.
Two normal jacks and lots of patience and you can do this.

extensions and a ratchet inside the car will reach the top two difficult-to-reach trans. to bellhousing bolts.
Where's the leak?
