T-56 Clutch Fork question

Just got the trans mounted up to the motor, but even after having pushed the clutch fork onto the throwout bearing, it still seems awfully loose.. Should it be like this or did I do something wrong?

This isnt my video but mine is just like this..

Yeah, I made sure that the pivot T was securely tightened down.. I guess I mean that there seems to be more play than I would of expected, but it is in the direction of normal travel of the clutch fork.

Re: T-56 Clutch Fork question

Do you have it properly seated around the bearing collar??

Re: T-56 Clutch Fork question

Yeah, the play is coming from the fact that the spring on the fork doesn't hold the fork tight to the pivot.. Even with the tranny out and the fork pushed in, it rattles around on the pivot. If it shouldn't be like that, the only way to fix it would be to replace the spring on the fork or the fork itself.. Since the spring is riveted to the fork it may need a new fork.

Re: T-56 Clutch Fork question

Wait a second.... is this the source of that rattling marbles T56 sound in neutral?

Mine's always done it, I've read about a LOT of people who have had T56's that did that from day 1 and just dont worry about it, so I never worried about it either. But I've just had a eureka moment over it. I dont hear it in gear for some reason, but in neutral at a stop with my foot off the clutch pedal you definitely hear a very obvious rattling in the trans.

By the way my fork acts about the same. I never was all that concerned about it. When the slave cylinder is installed it will keep tension against it and Im sure thats how GM intended it.
