4th gen rear brake issue

I just finished my rear swap and looked at a few rearends and the calipers were mounted on the front. Is that correct? I have seen them both ways. Which is correct? I hope I don't have to take it back apart again.

LT1 (93-97) on the rear. LS1 (98+) on the front.

Re: 4th gen rear brake issue

So the rear end is out of a 98 Z-28 stick car and it didn't have brakes on it so I bought a set off a 97 Z-28. That being said I will assume that the housing has nothing to do with it and I need to change it around. Am I correct?

10-bolt axle flanges are all the same, so with LT1 backing plates you'll be able to mount the 97 set-up. To install the backing plates, you'll have to remove the axles themselves.

Re: 4th gen rear brake issue

So am I ok with the LT1 brakes mounted in the LS1 position or do I need to take the axels back out and move to the brakes to the back instead of the front where they are now?

I'd imagine that the bleeder screws and parking brake cables would be in the wrong position mounted like the LS1's. And as I mention, the LT1's were designed for the backside.

Re: 4th gen rear brake issue

I changed everything around and I hearing the pads rub on the rotor pretty good. I checked the axels with th car off the ground and they are true. what else would cause that issue?

I understand that but I can hear it in the car with the windows up, it's pretty loud.
