Re: Ebay 3.73 gears

Unless you can install the parts yourself it would be cheaper to buy a 4th gen LS1 Camaro rear axle assembly. A good used one from Hawks can be bought for 500 plus a 50 dollar crate fee(assuming they have one in stock). Ive been quoted 700 just for the install of new gears in my current 10 bolt. The 4th gen unit is a bit wider but its an upgrade from what is under your car. Just food for thought.
But yes that add appears to have the correct parts to do the job.

Be leary of no name parts. So much stuff is coming out of China now unless it has a name brand on it I wouldn't even mess with it. Gears and such out of china is trot line weight in my opinion. I have seen too much weak steel with china stamped into it. As far as installing them it isn't hard but it is time consuming, tedious, and takes a couple of special tools to do it right. I would call around to some driveline shops. It isn't the cheapest thing to have done but 700 just for labor is crazy.

Re: Ebay 3.73 gears

if u get charged more then 300-350 in labor for a gear install with the rear in the car u are getting ripped off

typical labor only rates for gear install and setup should be around

300 bucks for in car
and
200 bucks if u bring the shop the rearend and they do it on the bench

a gearset from summit racing will run about 160 bucks + the install kit for another hundred + whatever the price of gear oil is now

600 bucks total for the gears and install is pretty typical

The Chinese are GOOD... amazing.... they can copy literally ANYTHING well enough to take good ebay pictures, regardless of what it does (or fails to do) after the sale... they'll be a force to be reckoned with someday.

Re: Ebay 3.73 gears

They are very good at copying things, now if they could just get the quality equal to the original they would rule the world. I have some rippers on my tractor that came from China. They are cast steel (not complicated manufacturing, just about as basic as it gets) I have broken half of them hitting roots. The old rippers I still have will stall the tractor before they give way. You got to love the stainless that is coming out of China that is magnetic too.

Re: Ebay 3.73 gears

Yeah totally agree.. The price seems too good to be true.. Rather spend a little more and get American made parts that I know will last me way more.. especially when it comes to something like the gears..
