torque converter keeps locking

Well when I bought my 89 Iroc the previous owner had the tc plug in unhooked. Well I plugged it back up and now in Overdrive everytime you let of the gas and give it again. It will lock the TC. If I'm going a steady speed say the TC is locked. If i let off the fuel and then give it fuel again it unlocks and then locks straight back. Like its shifting a gear everytime I let off and give it fuel again. This can't exactly be good for the transmission. How can I fix it?

Re: torque converter keeps locking

sounds like its working as it should. lockup only happens when you stay at a steady speed. It disengages when you let off the pedal so the car doesn't lug the engine to get back to cruising speed.(safety feature) I've seen kits that allow you to adjust how it works if you want to customize it to your driving. I don't see any problems though

Re: torque converter keeps locking

So am trying to find a thread that is close to the issue I am having. I have an 86 iroc with the 5.0 tpi. The tranny and engine are freshly rebuilt. It likes to lock and unlock the converter at rpms under 2000 in 3rd and 4th gear. Its really annoying. Then if i hit the gas, sometimes it'll act confused and jump around before it downshifts. Other times when I get on it I think the converter is staying locked up cause it's slow to accelerate. I have tried to re-set the tv cable but that seems to make no difference. Any ideas as to why its acting so weird?
