My 700R4 transmission pan is leaking from the passenger front side. I've replaced the pan and I've used 3 different gaskets (cork, rubber, and permatex).

I'm currently using Perma-Tex transmission gasket. I used extra gasket on the passenger front side to seal the deal, so to speak, but no luck. The leak is indeed coming from the seal and not from anywhere above.

I'm at my wit's end over this. The tranny is only leaking when the engine is running. Any clues?

 

I would put a straight edge on the pan to make sure it"s not bent. You could be over tighten the bolts to the pan. Make sure the trans is free of gasket material. I have a stock pan I'll give you, if you want to pay shipping, which i would keep at a minimum.

 

The pan is brand new and both the pan and the tranny are straight, I completely cleaned both as well. I also torqued the bolts to 85 in lbs. This is why I'm at a complete loss.

 

run your pan bolts down hand tight.. then snug them just a bit..

also make sure. that none of your. pan bolt holes. has bin over drilled to deep into the case. (have seen this before on another tranny)

if so you can use Ultra Blue/black RTV on the pan bolt in that hole.

 

check all of of your tranny cooler lines, your tv cable needs a grommet in it as well as your dipstick tube. check them all, they can leak just as easily as the pan and it looks exactly like its the pan leaking.
