700r4 shift points question?

I just got finished installing a new trans depo nemisis stage 2 700r4 and 2400 stall. After all said and done it seems to be shifting to early. I set the kickdown cable after the install but when u set it it doesn't seem to adjust at all. Also I noticed my speedo is about 12mph high at 55mph. Is the speedo being off causing the early shifting. I was thinking about adjusting the kickdown in some manually so the car will think its getting more throttle than it actually is. Any ideas.

Also I have a cable speedo so where is my vss?

A different torque converter and gear changes in the tranny is going to affect these things. The early shifting isnt going to give u a bad speed but the wrong inputs needed to get a correct speed will affect shifting and outputs like speed sensor

The vss sensor is behind the cluster, but the problem is if you have your old tranny take the govenor out and your speedo gear and put it in the new tranny.

Re: 700r4 shift points question?

I actually don't think the speed input from the vss will change the shift points. Third gen 700s are not computer controlled like the 4L60Es are. I swapped out my differential to 3.70 gears and my speedometer is all screwed up, but the trans shifts just like it did with the stock gears. Its got to be the throttle valve cable. Is it connected properly inside the Trans?

Re: 700r4 shift points question?

The trans shift points are determined by the balance between TV cable input and the governor. The governor tells it how fast the car is going; the TV cable tells it what the driver & engine are doing.

Go here to learn how it works. http://www.tvmadeez.com/article/index.php

Go here for parts to recalibrate your governor. http://www.700r4.co/ Scroll down to, or search the page for, #43.
