B&m shifter cable problems
B&m shifter cable problems
I'm new to the site and I just bought a 92 z28 it has been board over 30,And has a mild cam and is in good shape for the year. My problem is the guy before me put in a B&M shifter and it is very hard to get it into drive and the shifter is very stiff should I replace the cable or put the factory shifter back in, it also came with the car, What would you guys do... Thanks for your input.

Re: B&m shifter cable problems
Hello welcome to third gen If it was me I would crawl under the car and see if the cable has a tight bend that will need to be removed by routing a different way.

Re: B&m shifter cable problems
Mine is the same way, i've been rebuilding my motor so I still haven't adjusted it. You'll have to do a search around here, there is a nice diagram that shows how to wire needs to be, and if there is a bend or kink it is hard to shift like you said. It is really hard for me to put it into first without slamming it into gear
Re: B&m shifter cable problems
I will check out how they have it routed and look at the diagram to make sure it is right, because I like the way the B&M shifter looks.. over the stock looking shifter.
