last night I cleaned out the throttle body on my 91 formula 350 tpi. After the cleaning I went for a road test and notice the car won't shift out of first gear. So I pulled over and noticed I forgot to reconnect the throttle cable to the throttle body. After I reconnected it I went for another drive. Still won't shift out of 1st gear. So I left the car overnight and drove this morning and its shifting fine now and drives well. What gives. I'm thinking maybe my tv cable needs some adjustment or something. I do notice before when I took my car out of winter storage when I put the car in drive its really stiff to get out of park? Any ideas.

 

The TV cable was probably stuck and/ or out of adjustment.

When you have it in winter storage, do you start it up every now and then?
Some things could stick until they work loose.

Like shifter and TV cables?

 

I would start it up once every month but never but it in gear.
