Pressure plate friction surface
How do you guys feel about a pressure place that has a surface that is obviously done in a lathe? I noticed that both my Phoenix race clutch, and autozone cheap clutches have like the lines in it (looks like a record), vs the swirls of a blanchard grinder.
I know if a flywheel is like that, we usually throw 'em in the garbage.

Re: Pressure plate friction surface
For a pressure plate, it probably doesn't matter. It's unlikely anyone has tried to machine it to make it true again. When a clutch fails, the pressure plate should be replaced but the flywheel can always be ground until it reaches minimum specs.
All the pressure plates that I've seen have never had the swirls.
