pickup truck axles as upgrades
We all know the 2 major problems: Weight, and no torque arm. The no torque arm thing hasn't stopped guys from making use of the Ford 8.8, and it's ideal for being light yet strong. But I had no real problems attaching my torque arm to my Dana 60, from a '78 Dodge D250. The results aren't show-worthy, but I fabricated it myself, in one long afternoon, using common tools. No machine shop needed. And mine has the 30-spline axles typical of full-float D60s, but 35-splines are available for under $300/pr, delivered, and then I'd have a truly un-breakable rear. I can't yet comment on ride quality, but I can confirm it's a great fit. Trying to do a GM 10.5" 14-bolt may conflict with the panhard, the D60 took up most of the available clearance. Now for connecting the brakes, e-brakes, anti-roll bar, and driveshaft.
