hydraulic conversion
I am wanting to convert my clutch from a mechanical clutch to a hydraulic. I have the master cylinder and the slave cylinder from a 4th generation will they match up? And i have the pedals from a 4th generation to swap in just incase i need them. But i saw i can mod them to fit the 3rd gen. But i dont know to to do the swap from mechanical to hydraulic. So i need a decent amount of help.Is there any spacers i need to use, or anything? Ill post pictures as i go along as well for future help. From the research i just did doesnt seem like its to hard to manage, the only hard part is the spacing and the pedals getting all that drilled and everything. Thanks in advance.-Garrett

That's really about all there is to it... the rest of it pretty much takes care of itself. Just make sure you have the little braces that go from the pedal pivot bolt to the master cyl U-bolt.

that "brace" is part of the pedal assembly, if its not there, somebody cut it off because its welded on (at least to the 4th gen pedals) pretty sure its welded to the 3rd gen ones.
if you use 4th gen hydro parts, use 4th gen pedals. the geometry of the clutch pedal is different between 3rd and 4th gen cars. if you use 4th gen hydro parts with 3rd gen pedals, the clutch will engage high, it works, but some people dont like that.

Well with the mechanical clutch it didnt engage till you hit the floor, and i just couldnt stand that. But my 3rd gen pedals were made for a mechanical clutch only, so they dont have the bracket. But whats the bracket used for? and where would i put it?

The braces are 2 pieces of about 5/16" wire, with an eye formed at one end to go around the bolt, and an eye at the other end to go under the U-bolt nuts.
Without them, when you push the clutch in the hyd system, instead of the MC getting pushed in, the firewall just bends.
They're also REAL handy for locating the MC hole pattern on the firewall.
You MUST have them, or it won't work.
THey will come on the hyd pedal assy you don't have yet, when you go get one at the junkyard. Which you will HAVE TO do because the mech pedal assy won't work the hyd system. You'll need the whole bracket thing the pedals are enclosed in, because that's different too. Can't just put the other pedals in your existing bracket, not that you'd want to anyway even if you could because that'd just be extra work. Real simple & easy to swap though; just lower the steering column.
The pedal assy out of any 84-92 5-spd Camaro or Firebird will work. Go find one, it'll make alot more sense when it's sitting in front of you.

That would be good, yes.
93-up pedals have the master cylinder attachment point closer to the pivot point. That might not give you enough fluid for clutch release.
The 93-97 master cylinder is the same bore as the 84-92 master cylinder. You can use the 93-up master / slave with the T5 bellhousing and fork without issue.

What transmission do you have 4sp or 5 sp. I would suspect 4sp and may need some different parts.
