Engine: 88 TPI 5.7 w/Procharger 12psi
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.73
700r4 3rd gear lockup?
Hi all, I need another 500rpm in 3rd gear for the 1/4 mile as I am in the rev limiter for the last 150'-200'. I installed a B&M lockup kit on my car and I'm only getting TCC lockup in 4th gear. How do I get it to lockup in 3rd gear? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The trans is out of an 87 GTA

The correct fix here is to use 275/60R15 tires at the dragstrip. Or get a 3.23:1 rear instead of your 3.73:1. Lockup is for MPG, not racing. If you want to use it on the track, you need your trans built specifically for this, and a high-dollar converter intended to do this. B&M stuff doesn't qualify, nor does stock-GM.
