Re: monster transmissions?????

Do a search.

You will find a lot of bad reviews. You will also find a few that are still working.

Re: monster transmissions?????

Take a look at a 400 or 4l80e (overdrive) if you are building tons of power.

Re: monster transmissions?????

Properly built a 700R4 can hold a fair amount of horsepower. As for the 4L80e he would need a controller for the electronics and per all the tranny shops here it is strong but stock it has tendencies to have problems if it gets hot. For heavy towing in my truck I had to put a third transmission cooler on because the first two from the factory were not enough. I would assume this is remedied if built for performance.

Re: monster transmissions?????

im doing some upgrades to my 700R4
5 pinon rear planet $150
6 pinon front planet $1100.00 (so my new tranny gears are are closer to t400 1st to 3rd)
up mod front drum $500 (no more snap ring/bolted in now and more clutchs)
and all red/blue clutchs and small parts$700

keeping my V body and otherparts the same way B$M set it up years ago.(love it)
so it's a few bucks to get it to take some power..
