700r4 questions
hello, i have a 700r4 out of a 91 chevy caprice 5.0L v8 and i just swaped it in to my 89 trans am and i was wondering if its possible to take the old valve body off of the original trans and put it on the 91 caprice trany because i heard that the caprice valve body have granny-shifts so to say and i was wondering how to remove the govener on it to

First, you can't remove the governor. You can swap governors, so start with that. Next, the 1-2 accumulator spring is probably broken. That creates a horrible 1-2 upshift no matter how you drive it. But to check that, you'll probably tear the gasket. Likewise for swapping VBs, and if you do that, you'll probably find both separator plates have been damaged by the check *****. Either try the Caprice version with just the governor swap ( and the speedometer gears while you're swapping tailhousings for the torque-arm mount ) Or buy a shift kit that includes gaskets and instructions, plus buy a new separator plate, and swap VBs.

thanks atilla the hun i swaped the goveners the valve body and the speratore plate and the trans work just like it did before a blew the old one thanks for the help

Alright, I feel really stupid for asking this question, but what is the small wire/tube on the center/top of the transmission. Right above the casting line in this picture:
