hey guys in have an 89 trans m gta 5.7 and i recently blew the third and forth clutch packs so i replaced the tranny with one ffrom a 91 caprice i also swapped over the valve body and governer but when i first started the car i could he a ticking slash puffing sound coming from behind the torque converter and i got a little skeptical of the pump but the car ran and drove fine, but i was at my buddies house today and he wanted me to do a burnout so i did a burnout and as i got a little bit down the street and car just revved up it was in drive but it would not move i tryed givin it gas and everything but nothing i tried puttin it in all the gears but nothing and now when i listen under the car there is no puffing sound at all...is my front pump shot or...

 

You most likely broke the front pump. Disconnect the top transmission line at the transmission, and put it in a bottle and start the motor and see if you get any oil out of the line. If not, then the pump is broke.

 

turn out the oil pump was shot! i dropped the trans again! and pulled off the pump opened it up and found out that the oil pump rotor was snapped in half and there were pieces everywhere i changed out the pump and now she works just fine
