700r4 Speedometer Gear Housing

Of all things to have a problem with, I swapped my converter with a 2600 rpm converter. I am finishing up, I was tightening the speedometer gear and I actually broke the threads off the speedometer gear housing.

How hard is this to replace? Is it going to leak fluid like crazy until it is replaced? Do you need to remove the tailshaft to replace it or can you just remove it from the outside? Also, anything else I might need to know is appreciated. Really dumb, I had it hand tight and decided to give it a turn with a pair of channel locks, bad idea .

Thanks in advance!

In sequence: Easy, yes, outside. Be sure to find an aluminum replacement, not the plastic versions.

Hey any chance you know what size housing I need? I have 2.77 gears, from google I believe I need the 35-39 size housing, however the most common size seems to be 40+. I wanted to get this ordered today if possible...

What driven gear did you remove, if you're re-using it? What color is the drive gear? Correct for 245/50R16s would be red 17 tooth drive with a 37 tooth driven.
