Engine: 5.0 TPI V8
Transmission: 700R4 Auto
700R4 problems
did i blow my tranny? wont shift past 2nd gear. gets to about 30-40 and wont accelerate anymore and rpms shoot up. works fine in 1 and 2 on the bottom goes about 60 mph at 4000 rpms in 2nd gear. any help

another likely cause is the band which could be warped or worn when it engages it clamps the input drum and sun shell allowing the rear planetary to rotate engaging the 3-4 clutches.

i talked to somebody about it today and they said it might be the cable that goes from the throttle to tranny. he said i have to push in and adjust it or something like that

if it was the band,which clamps the reverse input drum, he wouldn't have 2nd gear or 4th.
