Easy ways to differentiate between V8/V6 bellhousing?
I am most likely going to look at a 700r4 later today as a core to get rebuilt.
I could ask the seller, but I want to make sure for myself that I can tell if it was from a v8 or a v6 Camaro. Are there any easy ways to tell them apart? Or can anyone post some pics of the different bellhousing patterns? I tried a quick google search, but it was very vague.
ALso, if there is any other bits of advice for things to look for? The seller claims it is from an 89, is there anything I can look for to be sure of this, or anything else I need to look for? Casting #s etc that would prove it was from an 89 V8 and whatnot?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Easy ways to differentiate between V8/V6 bellhousing?
The V8 bell will have a peak at the top. A V6 f-body bell will be flat across the top. If it has a peak at the top then look for the torque arm mount. Then at least it isn't likely to be a 4.3l V6 trans.
There is a stamped number on the passenger side rail toward the rear. IIRC, the last digit is the year of manufacture. Can also tell the basic year by the number of test ports. I can't recall the specific's on that.
Can always pull the pan and check for the aux valve body too.
RBob.
