car shakes when put in drive?
I recently bought an 87 T/A with a 700r4 trans rebuilt with torque converter and shift kit. I'm new to this stuff so I would like to know if its normal that the car shakes when put into drive. I would put my foot on the brake then take it out of park into drive and it shifts hard making it shake. Is that supposed to happen?

Normally a shift kit take most if not all "finesse" out of an auto trans. It makes the shifts firmer which also makes it go into gear harder.
The only real question I have is what RPM does you car idle at? If it is too high it will shift into gear extra hard.

Its only when I put it into drive from park. The whole car shakes. I'm not sure what it is but I feel like its not right.

Check all the spots where the tranny mounts, is it more like the engine is shaking the car or the transmission?
