HELP 700R4 Tci lock-up wiring kit

Ok I've spent a hour on here searching threads, and cant seem to find my answer.

So I have a 86 iroc-z28 it had a 305tpi I built a 355 carburetor engine. This has been going on for about 5 months with limited time. Now at one point in time I came to the conclusion that I need the TCI wiring kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TCI-376600/
But now that its time to install the kit I am left with this question:: Why do I need it, I'm at a complete lose for words. I bought the tv bracket for my carburetor.

Can someone shed some light on this for me please?? Thank you.

The kit is to control the torque converter clutch.

The ECM controlled it before you took out the fuel injection.

That kit replaces the factory plug and harness that went to the transmission before.
