Manual out - Auto in...hard?

If an 83 TA has a 4 speed manual and you want to drop in 3 or 4 speed auto...is this a hard or expensive thing to do? Thanks

Re: Manual out - Auto in...hard?

i swapped my originally 4spd super t-10 '82 z28 to turbo 350-was almost
a bolt in-driveshaft,torque arm etc.all worked with the '80z28 TH350 i
used.A few years later i swapped that for a 700r4;for that tranny i had
to use driveshaft, torque arm and crossmember from 700r4 f-bods-the 700r4 crossmember fit the '82 frame rails, but one extra mount hole
needed drilled.700r4 i used was from an '85 caprice-put f-bod tail on it.
Since my manual tranny radiator did not have cooler,a seperate
air-cooled cooler was added.
Took a couple years untill i got around to removing the clutch pedal

Was tracking down the console hard or just a bit of trawling?
