torque arm mount
Does anyone know any where to pick up the whole torque arm mount on the transmission side, the previous owner hacked the mount apart and i welded mine back together, but i would really like to get it done the right way. My motor only makes about 300 HP so I don't need a divorced mount yet. I can find the bushings, just not the metal brackets. Fbodys in junkyards in massachusetts are non existant, so that route is a no-no. Autozone, pep boys and the like have no idea what Im even asking them for, and i searched their computers myself and they don't stock it. Dealer near me wants almost 100$ for it and for that price i might as well spend the extra and get an upgraded torque arm. New to F-bodys, just got this less than a month ago... And I know the people on here have a wealth of knowledge. Hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance if you do
oh my car is a 1986 Iroc with the tabs on the torque arm pointing towards the trans (bushing on it right now is the wrong one and i want to fix ASAP)

Re: torque arm mount
You could use any other torque arm mount off a 700r4 or t5 car since they are the same i highly suggest u use a poly mount or either that save up for a bmr or umi cross member that has the torque arm mount off the tailshaft alot more better an u dont risk that chance of damaging the tail shaft on the transmission

Re: torque arm mount
Has anyone ever made their own mount on the crossmember?? I was thinking about going that route, making a custom mount that mounts to the crossmember itself. Any one on here, do anything like that? Ive made my own mounts before on other vehicles(jeep cherokee, i made a transmission mount since the only one you could buy was 240$ for a piece of rubber and metal plates lol)

An OE rubber mount is less than $10. Here's some info on the poly that you might find interesting:

BTW, you might have better luck advertising in our site's classifieds for the part you're seeking.

Re: torque arm mount
@jamesc thanks for the info, I was just wondering if anyone knew any parts store that normally stocks them. I actually need the metal bracket and the rubber, the previous owner actually chopped the metal up to take the tranny out rather than unbolting. Ive read bad things about mounting it to the tranny and was thinking of mounting it right to the crossmember.
jmd thanks, i didn't know the t56 had a diffent pattern. Im having a hard time finding one for any 3rd gen around here. Massachusetts eats cars alive.

Re: torque arm mount
@Jamesc thank you for that link.... I ended up reading for 30+ min because my car has a vibration at high speeds I though was the driveshaft, but now i will have to check out the mounts because my car is kinda a frankenstein. I have no idea if its the stock tranny or what the car came with stock, the options sticker is not the stock one. This car is overall good for 600$ but its a headache trying to get everything figured out as I'm kinda **** and want everything to be "right". But I love learning everything I can about everything so thank you very much you have been very informative.

Re: torque arm mount
@jmd Im going to get red rocks. I wanted to get it done cheaply because i have spent almost all my money getting it back on the road. As always all the little things added up to more than i thought. Right now Im unemployed doing odd jobs so for me 20$ is kinda important. Once i get a job again I can throw money at it over the winter because with the vortec motor its almost undrivable in the rain nevermind in bad winter weather in massachusetts. thanks for your suggestions this is truely the best online forum sites ive seen for helpful people.

If you want me to come look at your car and give you a run down of what you have then let me know. I live 5 min from you. I know these cars like I know my kids.
