700R4 RPM shifting
700R4 RPM shifting
Ok so i just replaced my transmission with a newly rebuilt one and i also replaced the kick down cable (TV cable) with a new one. Everything was good to go and when i added in the TV cable, i held down the D key and pushed the wire in as much as i could (it actualy didnt even move haha) and then had my friend go into the car and push pedal to WOT. I noticed the cable didnt adjust to anything period, its still looks exactly how it came when it shipped to me. Does this mean it didnt adjust correctly?
As of now, it switches to the next gear at
2500 RPM when driving casualy, all the way to 4th gear if in overdrive. Although when it switches to overdrive and your going kinda slow, it sounds a bit odd/rough. I think i was only going 1500 or 2000 rpm when it was in 4th. (in city driving)
WOT: Switches at 4000 rpm.
edit: I will reply in 8 hours or so, going to sleep. Thanks to those who reply! Right now my dad is using the car for a 5 or 10 minute drive to work each day. So if its wrong, i want to get it fixed ASAP!
Are those results correct or is it definately caused from the fact that the kickdown cable didnt click at all when i did the WOT ?

Re: 700R4 RPM shifting
I've had this. Sometimes new cables have too-stiff springs, and sometimes I've even had to use channel-lock pliers and small sockets. Try moving the adjustment manually, 2 clicks at a time. As for the WOT upshift at 4000, that's the governor. You can change it in-car, L69s used a 5500. I forget what L98s used. If you want something else, B&M sells a governor recalibration kit.
