You may have to install the wire in the guage cluster, I did on my T/A

Wire connecting light bulb to rpm activated switch like this and I assume switch is connected to vss ?

I was thinking about this but wasn't sure if I was on the right track

I wouldn't worry about it.
If you are thinking the light is going to help you power shift like an aftermarket shift light, it won't.
First, it's not an Upshift light. I know it's an up arrow, but it actually comes on when you need to down shift too. All it tells you is "you would be getting better gas mileage if you were in a Different ( doesn't indicate if it is lower or higher) gear"
As you are accelerating, it comes on long before you should shift up.
It's not a performance tool, just a stupid CAFE thing
The only thing it's good for is if you are cruising at slow highway speeds, it will tell you if you would get better mileage in 4th or 5th
All American car manual shift lights are like this.

I believe you can set the "on" rpm in the bin though. I might be mistaken. Either way an aftermarket light would be far more accurate.

That's why I hook up light to rpm activated switch like I posted above so you can use it as a performance shift light but it's a factory look
Due to The fact I'm using factory light and not a external light source
I know the purpose of the light

Like posted above the link to rpm switch

Yea wasn't sureabout that either but I'm just going to try rpm switch and see how it works

I know aftermarket light is easier but want to keep factory look as much as possible that's last resort I guess lol

It comes on with a preset RPM when there is no load.
This can be set in the prom.
