mine broke on me the othe rnight when i pulled the 4l80 out of the car to reinstall the 700r4.

napa can get me a cable but its damn near 50 bucks and no junkyards in my area have 3rdgens.

so my question is will a shifter cable out of a 93-02 4l60 car be the same as the 3rdgen 700r4 shifter cable?.one of the guys on my local forums has one and he will be driving past my town next week and told me for 25 bucks i can have it.

dont want to buy it if it wont fit

This post is a bit old, so don't know if you got your cable problem resolved or not, but I doubt a 4th gen cable will work, and don't waste a single nickel on an aftermarket one from the parts store. They don't work worth a damn! I noticed you're in UT. If it's not too far for you to go, make a trip to Transwest's junkyard in Ogden. It's just south of Smith & Edwards off of I-15. They have about 4 or 5 3rd gens in the yard, and all of them still have the shifter cable in them. Last time I grabbed one there, they only charged me a measly 5 bucks for it! You can also usually find stock, used ones dirt cheap on Ebay.
