Hey, my first post!
I have a 1991 RS with an open differential (I think), 2.73 gears(series 2 carrier), 28 spline axles, 7.625"...
My question is will these parts from summit fit with no problem? The auburn posi says to use with gears 3.23 and up, i`m not sure if that means I can't use it since my gears were originally 2.73, or I can use it because I will be swapping in 3.73`s.

That posi is GARBAGE; the other 2 are OK.
Use this carrier instead. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/et...-010/overview/

Don't get the Auburn, or any of those parts. Get the Eaton Posi or a Yukon Dura Grip. I'm pretty sure that's one of Richmond's cheap gear sets, and they will probably make noise. The installation kit is also no good. I recommend getting your parts from Tom's Differentials or Randy's Ring & Pinion. Summit doesn't have good installation kits, and Tom's can beat their price on the Eaton Posi. Randy's has the Dura Grip.
I've already read the FAQ, i've lurked this website for a while now.
Thanks for the recomendations on brands and retailers. Can anyone recommend 3 part numbers that will fit my specific rear? On Tom's website they claim to only have Eaton posi's for 3 seriers carriers, mine is a 2 as mentioned in my first post.
Any specific information would be appreciated.

Looks like you are going to be stuck with the Auburn, or you could look for a used Torsen. There may have been some LS1 cars that had 2 series gears. The Eaton doesn't come in a 2 series.

Here is a 2 series Torsen. There are probably others too. This is the first one that I came to. I'd much rather have a used Torsen than a new Auburn.

What your carrier is now, doesn't matter.
You're putting in a 3 series ratio. Use a 3 series carrier. Forget you ever had any 2 series anything.

Find a 9 bolt. Many members will say they are getting to rare and expensive now but they are a better rear. 7.75 vs 7.5 and the design is better.

If you find a 9 bolt be sure it isn't the one with the 2.77 gears. You will need one with 3.27 or 3.45 gears to swap in a 3.70.
