Hey all I am curious on what clutches you guys are running , Also how do you like them? Would you buy the same clutch again?
Are you guys DD your car or just a week end warrior. or just a nice wheather cursier. How do you like the pedal feel?
same questions go for the shifters , stock? aftermarket? short throw? ( feel free to post pics too!
I am in the process of building up a parts list for an LT1 T56,with good parts that can hold some decent hp/tq

I bought an XTR stage 3 clutch: http://www.ebay.com/itm/XTR-STAGE-3-...6924c7&vxp=mtr
Seems to be good quality but I haven't tried it yet. I have to install the hydraulics I bought from rockauto.com

I have this two hole shaft similar shown here:

My tranny is a little different but what I need my shifter to connect to is the same.
I might go with something like this: http://bowlertransmissions.com/p/433...56-magnum-t-56

I second the MGW shifter!
Much shorter and crisper than OEM Hust shifters found on SS's with T56. Also has a strong rebound, but have not compared to any other "new" shifter.
Oh, I also like that you can shorten the shifter height and offset the shifter.

95 T56, converted to mechanical w/ rod-end linkage.
third gen stock type, re-lined.
16lb GM 86-up flywheel.
Drives just about like any 82-83 mech. linkage.
And OE Hurst w/ Jegs ****.

lt1/lt4 pp's are all pull style, they are all essentially the same with a slight pressure advantage going to the lt4 (more fingers or something like that). The aftermarket lt1 clutch kits are all just rebadged lt4 pressure plates, and a different clutch dics.
you can buy a lt4 pp from anywhere, and a clutch kit rated for xxx Hp, slap um on and your done

i have now spec stage 3 with fidanza alu fw, it is much better than spec stage 2 wich was more like on & off working. also i got hurst ss base from ebay for 89.95 i had a *** and reuse stock stick but i cut i off 2cm from tom and rethread, works perfect for me.
I was afraid of ceramic clutch but stage 3 is a way more streetable than stage 2, mayby due to light fw....

Re: what cluctches/pp/shifter's are you running,T56?
a stage 3 should be race only, stage 2 should be ok for street and strip, stage 1 is stock
stage 3 bite fast -almost like an on off switch
stage 2 grabs harder than stock
stage 1 is soft and forgiving

Re: what cluctches/pp/shifter's are you running,T56?
well, being streetable or not, it depends a bit from personal feeling and also from the engine. When i had Spec stage 2 i had so much stress during driving in traffic jam, first the pedal was really hard, so after some stop and go, i knew all the muscle in the leg, i had to rev engine to abt 1800 rpm to start driving, if less car was shaking and jumping a bit. with Stage 3 all above gone.
I replace also stock clutch in my brother Z28 LS1 t56 to Spec Stage 1, it is engaging just a bit harder than crappy stock, but even in daily driven car you will forged abt it.
So you need less force to pres pedal in stage 1 than stage 2, due to the springs i PP instaled, different friction material required different grip force.
My personal feling is that Stage 3 is more streetable than my failed stage 2, but the best would be if you try differend clutches in somebodys car, wich is best for you and than decide if it is needed for you engine.

Re: what cluctches/pp/shifter's are you running,T56?
Ripper shifter
Centerforce DF Clutch/PP
CF billet FW (removed 12 lbs from it prob around 28-30 lbs)
Perfect setup feels like stock holds 550hp real well.
STock FW weight was fine nothing wrong with it but I do spin this up high.
I cant stand the way those grabby type clutches feel and bog down a lightweight FW. Recovery on shifts is awesome.
Id buy another tomorrow.

Re: what cluctches/pp/shifter's are you running,T56?
Competition Clutches Stage 4, stock shifter (for now) with a shortened 6.5" stick.
In my opinion, the clutch is a bit too agressive for what I use it for. Really an on/off clutch. When it comes to replacement I will probably going with a Competiton Clutches stage 2 or 2.5...
Car is DD when I am on leave, and probably when I move back to the states... Way too much fun to drive!

The hydraulics that you use will make a huge difference in pedal feel. My Spec Stage 3 was extremely firm, and tough to drive. Once I swapped out the slave according to the thread below, it felt like a stock clutch.
