I can not allign t5 with engine & (Am losing My Mind)
just finished doing a rear main seal and oil pan gasket change,, i have the engine lifted on 3 inches of wood blocks on the mounts. i had took the tranny out also, reason being to get clearence of the pan hitting the fly wheel. now after ive done the job i needed to do. i alligned the fly wheel back up ,the clutch and pressure plate with allignment tool, and bell housing, hyrdaulic clutch release cylinder and pivit. i lift the tranny up to put it in but the mother ****a wont even budge. i dont know what else to do cause ive tryed puting it in 100 times. any of yall got tricks for this.. ive been trying to think wether i shud take the fork linkage off the pivit to take pressure off the throw out bearing. cause i feel like thats giving me a tough time sliding over on the main shaft. does your fork move when its in there ? . and you know what maby i did pass it or not and just didnt go through the splines. but yeah, please do post your thoughts cause my brain is ****in deteriating.

You have to remove the bellhousing from the tranny and put it on the engine first! Ive ran into this before! Much easier

Once you do that its a breeze. just make sure you have the clutch plate lined up good and it will slide right in. dont forget to lube the pilot bearing in the end of the crank while your at it

Bolt the engine back up to the motor mounts and let it rest backwards! If you exhaust is still hooked up it help keep it from going back so far it smashes something against the firewall

the engine has to sag backwards to get that tranny back in there. If you have already removed the distributor cap or distributor you might have to

I didnt hold the engine up with anything but i still had my exhaust attached. I made sure the pressure plate and clutch were lined up properly. Bolted the bellhousing up, with the fork on the bellhousing with the bearing installed on the fork. then the tranny would slide right in, just make sure to fit that bearing over the end of the shaft on the trans as best as you can while sliding it in there. Stupid question..... You did use the alignment tool on the clutch plate right?

na its cool . i dont take none of that personal. but its just truly weird that my t5 wont slide in. i made sure all my marks from the pressure plate to the fly wheel were correct and i use that allignment tool for the clutch to make sure sht like this wouldnt happend

yo i dont know wether i did it right or wrong, but i unbolted the release cylinder bolts for the fork and let the release bearing ride free. i put the tranny on and went through till it stoped at around an inch or lower. i bolted the 2 top bolts by hand. then went to the back of the tranny and put the tranny mount and crossmember bolts on. then i went and put the bolts by the release cylinder. then tighten the 4 bolts on the tranny from a inch ah way. am not sure how dis tightened but it did, hopefully my out come when i start it aint to bad.

Just a question but did you by any chance put lube or anything on the pilot bushing, I once put wheel bearing grease in the pilot bearing (a little to much) and the mother wouldn't go in for nothing, was causing an air barrier and pushing the input shaft out no matter how hard I tryed to push it in.

I didnt know you had the slave cylinder bolted up. Thats why you were having so much trouble. The reason you had to tighten the bolts to draw the tranny up to the bellhousing all the way is just because of the tight fit in the pilot bearing. (Bushing in the back of the crank) It should be fine! Ive had to do the same thing with mine a few times. Sometimes they will slide right in and other times you have to draw them up with the bolts. glad you got it!

Pull the slave off and you should be good to go. If you still can't get it, put up some pictures of how it is setup and I'll try to help!

Sounds like you figured it out but last time I went to put my t5 in I fought and fought with it then My wife came out and got in the car and was talking to me while I was trying to get it in, she absent mindedly pressed the clutch pedal and the tranny slid right in.

I never do it that way. It's too easy to damage the throw out bearing. All that matters is its in there now!
