Where do "Secondary Transmission Crossmember Mounts" go??

I'm swapping in a newly rebuilt 700R4 over the next week and am ordering a new polyE tranny mount from Jegs when I notice "Secondary Transmission Crossmember Mounts" in the catalog. Where do these go and should I get polyE ones or stock? The reason I'm asking is I can't recall seeing them on my old tranny and was wondering where I missed them.

EDIT: Of course, if they're for a manual transmission that could be the reason for missing them...

Thanks,

Steve

Those were only for the early third-gens. I had called Energy Suspension up to ask about them and they aren't on the '84? and later third-gens.

Cool! 400 posts!

I have NEVER been able to figure out what cars these were installed in. My friends '83 Crossfire A4 didn't have it, but my '84 carbureted V6 M5 did.

Same thing with the metal "balance weight" hung off the end of the tranny. This one, at least, I think is a non-V8 engine thing, but I'm not sure of anything else.

My 83 HO Z28 has the extra trans mounts... they're basically just biscuit bushings that isolate a small piece that the trans actually sits on, from the rest of the crossmember and frame.

I've only seen the extra weight thing on 4 & 6 cyl cars. I'm not going to make any claims that they came on those only though.

Ressurection in progress....anyone know if this can be retrofitted onto a 4th gen? Do thirdgens and 4th Gens share the same bolt holes? Im thinking if I have to run a poly mount, this may help the vibes.

My 83 has them and we know how cheap G.M. was at the time our cars were being built. So I am thinking they would not of put them there if they didn't have to. IMO

My 92 had them, so its not just and early year deal. Probably used to eliminate road noise

Re: Where do "Secondary Transmission Crossmember Mounts" go??

My 88 has them. But who knows if it came with the car. Was an original v6/5 speed but I bought it already swapped to 5.7/700r4.

In hindsight, Im wondering if this is the source of much of my vibration above 70. I think combined with the ES mount, the tailshaft is way too high.

I really am curious as to why these would have been installed.
